Somabay Endurance Festival

The Somabay Endurance Festival is Egypt’s biggest multi-sport event. Since its introduction in 2014, the festival has welcomed thousands of athletes to compete in various classic multi-sport distances at one of the Red Sea’s most beautiful locations. The 2026 edition takes place from May 7-9, 2026.

The festival offers something for everyone, from complete beginners to professional competitors. Children aged 5-10 can participate in the 1K Kids Race, while other distances welcome participants from age 8 all the way to 70+. 

Distance options

Supersprint Distance (Ages 12+, Individual)

• Swim: 350m open-water swim, 100m run to transition
• Bike: 10 km
• Run: 2.5 km
• Race Start: 2:30 PM (Friday, May 8)
• Awards Ceremony: 4:00 PM

Sprint Distance (Ages 14+, Individual & Relay)

• Swim: 750m open-water swim, 100m run to transition
• Bike: 20 km
• Run: 5 km
• Race Start: 9:00 AM (Saturday, May 9)
• Awards Ceremony: 11:30 AM

Olympic Distance (Ages 16+, Individual & Relay)

• Swim: 1,500m open-water swim, 100m run to transition
• Bike: 40 km
• Run: 10 km
• Race Start: 7:00 AM (Friday, May 8)
• Awards Ceremony: 11:00 AM
• Cut-off Times: Swim (1 hour), Swim + Bike (3 hours), Total (4 hours from individual start time)

Youth Race (Ages 8-12, Individual)

• Swim: 100m open-water swim, 100m run to transition
• Bike: 4 km
• Run: 1 km
• Race Start: 12:00 PM (Saturday, May 9)
• Awards Ceremony: 12:45 PM

10K Race (Ages 14+, Individual)

• Run: 10 km
• Race Start: 7:00 AM (Saturday, May 9)

The Somabay Endurance Festival 2026 takes place from Thursday, May 7 to Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Somabay, located on the Red Sea coast near Hurghada, Egypt.

Race course details

• Swimming: Open water course in calm, clear waters. The course is monitored by lifeguards in kayaks and zodiacs for participant safety.
• Cycling: The course is a mixture of flat stretches plus uphill climbs, alternating between tailwind and headwind. Bike mechanics are present on the course for technical support.
• Running: Scenic seaside promenade run on interlock brick surface, offering beautiful views throughout the distance.

Timing and ranking

All athletes are timed using the MyLaps Timing System for accurate results through electronic timing chips. Final results are posted online and organized by overall ranking, age groups, and gender. Top finishers in every 5-year age group earn gold, silver, and bronze medals, while overall winners are honored on the podium with champions’ medals and prizes.

The registration fee covers the race experience, including race bag, swim cap, automatic timing service, event t-shirt, finisher medal (awarded upon successful completion of the race distance), and digital race certificate.
