Roody 50x
Roody 50X takes place in the Wadi Degla Protectorate near Cairo, offering trail running distances for all experience levels while promoting conservation and sustainable outdoor sports. The event features four distance options, from a beginner-friendly 5 km fun run to the 55 km ultra distance.
The shorter distances (5 km and 10 km) are suitable for beginners trying trail running for the first time. The 28 km medium distance requires more running experience and presents a greater challenge. The 55 km ultra distance offers an adventure for experienced trail runners seeking a test of endurance.
The terrain consists of 70% hard dirt trails and 30% sandy and rocky areas, creating varied and challenging conditions throughout the course. Elevation gains range from 10 meters for the fun run to 1,100 meters for the ultra distance. The diverse terrain and elevation profiles provide a versatile trail running experience in the natural setting of Wadi Degla Protectorate.

Practical information
Roody 50X 2026 takes place on Friday, October 24, 2026 at Wadi Degla Protectorate, located near Cairo, Egypt. Runners access the race venue through the Wadi Degla Protectorate Main Gate in Zahraa El Maadi.
Race kits are available for collection at the venue on race day starting at 4:00 AM. Participants must wear their race bib visibly at all times during the race to enable race marshals to identify and assist them.
Checkpoints are positioned along each race route, providing water to participants. All runners are required to stop at each checkpoint, allowing race marshals to check on and support everyone, particularly those who need assistance. Runners must bring their own nutrition and electrolytes for the race.
Mandatory gear requirements
For safety, participants must bring all mandatory gear during the race, especially for the 55 km distance:
- Running vest with at least 1L water capacity
- Bladder and/or bottles
- Electrolytes (at least 3,000mg sodium plus other electrolytes)
- Nutrition (at least 1,000 Kcal of energy gels, bars, or equivalent)
- Whistle
- Emergency blanket
- Trail running shoes in good condition with socks
- Comfortable, moisture-wicking clothing
- Fully charged phone
- Sports watch or smartphone with pre-uploaded GPX route file
- Headlamp or flashlight with primary and spare batteries (for longer distances)
- Small first aid kit

GPX route files will be provided. Participants must pre-upload the GPX file to their sports watch or smartphone. Water is provided at checkpoints, but no food. Personal medical insurance is recommended. Race organizers and marshals provide basic first aid at checkpoints, and in emergencies, participants will receive assistance and may be evacuated to medical facilities.

Ultra Ibex is a Cairo-based trail running and outdoor adventure events organizer, founded by members of Wadi Ibex, Egypt’s first trail running team. The organization is led by experienced ultra-endurance and trail running athletes. Ultra Ibex organizes trail running events throughout Egypt, including the Sinai Mountain Challenge, Red Sea Hurghada Challenge, Wadi Degla Trail, Wadi Rayan Desert Challenge, Roody 50x, and Sinai Exodus Challenge.
