The Egyptian Marathon is the oldest ongoing marathon in Africa and the Middle East, held regularly for more than 30 years. It welcomes runners of all levels – from elite athletes to first‑time marathoners – and takes them on a journey past some of Egypt’s most famous historical landmarks.

The 33rd Egyptian Marathon 2026 offers four main race distances and categories:

• Marathon (42.195 KM) – A full marathon on an AIMS‑measured course, perfect for runners aiming for a qualifying time or a personal best in a historic setting.
• LuxorRun (22.289 KM) – A challenging half‑marathon‑style distance, ideal for experienced runners who want a strong performance in Luxor.
• Ramsis Run & Walk (12.336 KM) – A mid‑distance run/walk option great for those looking to enjoy the route and scenery without a full marathon commitment.
• Hatshepsut Run & Walk (5 KM) – A short, accessible distance perfect for beginners, families, and those who want to experience the event atmosphere.

All participants are welcome in Male, Female, Open, and Masters divisions. Every finisher receives:

Event Details

The 33rd Egyptian Marathon 2026 will take place on Friday, 9 January 2026 in Luxor, Egypt’s most iconic historical city. The event starts early in the morning to avoid the midday heat and offers runners cool, crisp conditions as they pass ancient temples and monuments.

Route & Location

Start/Finish Area: Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Luxor West Bank
Main Route Highlights: Temple of Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon, Temple of Amenophis III, Temple of Habou, and other major historical sites on the West Bank.

The course is AIMS‑measured and certified, with clear signage, support stations, and medical aid along the way. Detailed route maps and elevation profiles will be shared on the official website closer to race day.

• 5:00 AM – 6:30 AM: Race pack pick‑up and registration
• 6:30 AM: Marathon (42K) start
• 7:00 AM: LuxorRun (22K) start
• 7:30 AM: Ramsis Run & Walk (12K) start
• 8:00 AM: Hatshepsut Run & Walk (5K) start
• 10:00 AM onwards: Finisher celebrations and awards
