African New Year Dance Workshop

​​NILE journeys, Nurturing Impulses for Living Ecosystems, will welcome 2023 with its African New Year Dance Workshop for dancers of all skill levels. The workshop will focus on movements and dance principles inspired by African music and philosophy.

Exploring African Art and Philosophy

Through African Contemporary Dance and Movement Medicine, NILE journeys will explore our inner landscape in this immersive workshop. Participants will dance and get to know various dance resources through the wisdom of the moving bodies. In rhythm with the elements and forces of nature, they will dance with dreams into the New Year 2023 by the Nile River.

The workshop will introduce two lessons:

• African Contemporary Dance Technique: African rhythms, aesthetics and movement sequences with contemporary forms of expression.
• Movement Medicine: Explores dance as a resource for life, includes dance improvisation and free expression.

Timing and Location

The workshop will take place from January 4 to 8, 2023 at Fekra Cultural Center in Aswan. The venue is a cultural center that organizes traditional and contemporary music and dance events, poetry evenings, lectures, and film screenings

The registration for the African New Year Dance Workshop is open online. Head to this link to register, fill up the form, and finalize payment. The workshop fee is 5000 EGP, and a 50% down payment upon registration is required to secure your spot by December 10, 2023.
