Abu Gasaba – The Warm-Up
Egypt Hiking Community, a public hiking community in the country, will hold its Abu Gasaba – The Warm-Up hike at St. Catherine this September. The hike is open to intermediate hikers with the time and determination to conquer a 3-day trip.
Warm-Up in Sinai
The trip aims to highlight the beautiful mountains of Sinai in St. Catherine and invite intermediate hikers who want to experience and explore the local hiking community. This is a medium-level hike, so it requires a good physical fitness level and previous mountaineering experience.
Here are the inclusions of the trip:
- Professional mountaineering leaders
- Private coaster bus round trip
- Friday breakfast, lunch and dinner; Saturday breakfast and lunch
- Hot drinks and water
- Thursday overnight in Fox Camp, St Catherine city
- Friday overnight in Farsh El Romana (camping)
- Bedouin guides
- Camels to carry our bags/camping gear
Timing and Location
The hike will take place at Abu Gasaba (أبو قصبة), one of the beautiful mountains in the Saint Catherine area. It is known for the unique narrow summit (2 236m) looking like a Canes (قصبة). It requires some short but steep scrambling to reach the top. The trip runs from September 16 to 18.
